Raku FiringJoin us Friday, June 12, for Preview Night and get first pick of bisque ware (fired once and unglazed) pottery.

Purchase a $40 ticket and receive a $15 coupon toward the purchase of unglazed pottery. Glaze your piece with the help of our potters. While you wait for your piece to be fired enjoy a picnic dinner, stroll our grounds, view our Emerging Artists Exhibit in the Kavanagh Gallery, browse our Dempsey Gallery, shop in our Fine Line Yarn shop and visit with friends.

Raku Day Potter Firing

Can’t make the Preview Night? Join us on Saturday for Raku Day out at The Fine Line.

Experience the ancient art of Japanese Raku (pronounced rah-koo), a unique firing process.

The Fine Line Creative Arts Center in St. Charles, Illinois invites the public to explore Raku and all they have to offer on Saturday, June 13, 2009 from 9 AM 3 PM. Your day begins by purchasing a bisque (fired once) piece of pottery, experiencing the magic of glazing it and watching it being fired. The firing process takes from one to two hours.

In the meantime you may watch the process, or stroll the campus and discover demonstrations by Fine Line artisans and hands-on activities which include lampworked bead making, frame knitting, indigo dyeing, weaving, oil pastel painting, papermaking and more; view and shop at the current art exhibits in the Kavanagh and Dempsey Galleries.

SEPTEMBER 19 | MARK DVORAK CONCERT | 7 - 8:45 PM | $25

Mark DvorakJoin us for Mark Dvorak, who is a folk singer’s folk singer following unerringly in the footsteps of Woody Guthrie, Lead Belly, Big Bill Broonsy and Art Thieme.

His natural style of performing can make an old song sound new and a new song sound familiar. Entertaining warmth, sincerity, distinctive talent and variety in presentation have distinguished Mark Dvorak as one of today’s important folk artists.

Our doors will open at 6:30 PM. Light refreshments will be available until the concert begins promptly at 7 PM. We’ll break at 7:45 to return at 8 PM for more of Mark Dvorak’s renditions.

This is a small, intimate concert. Only 50 seats are available. Make reservations early.
